Update

So I got some good news today. I will be making the trip to Cleveland, Ohio for the Mid-American Conference Women's Basketball Tournament. The Daily News is sending two reporters and was wondering if I could go. All expenses are paid for too, which is nice. I will have to pull some strings with classes, but it should not be a big deal. The only game I cannot go to is the championship game (provided that Ball State makes it) since I will be leaving for Florida/Disney World early in the morning. I am excited for basically a two week Spring Break.

Women's Basketball Slideshow

Here is the slideshow from the Women's last home game of the year. In front of a school and MAC record attendance of 4,711, the Lady Cardinals went up 72-70 with a minute remaining against Eastern Michigan University. The Eagles drove down the court and had a couple attempts, but failed to get the bucket. They get the offensive rebound and dish it out for a three pointer, putting the Cardinals down 73-72. With less than 20 seconds left, the Cards get down the court and take a timeout. After the timeout, Kelsey Corbin drives under the bucket and puts up a shot with about five ticks on the clock. After missing, Julie DeMuth grabs a huge rebound and attempts to put up her shot. She misses the shot, but draws a foul. She needed to make one to tie, and two to win. The first one sails right in. Tie game. The second free throw is also successful, putting the Cardinals up with 3.8 seconds. The Cardinals put up a defensive stand and hold off the Eagles' last second shot, winning 73-72 on Senior Night. Enjoy the photos from the best game of the season.

Still Life Assignment

First time in the studio for an assignment. Still life. Nothing too crazy, keeping it basic. Enjoy.

Weekend Stuff

The location shoot for lighting went well. We set up the strobes at the Muncie Central/ Ben Davis basketball game. We didn't really need them, the existing light was great, the best out of any high school gym I have been in. I only took a few photos since I had to jet to the Ball State men's basketball game that same night. Here is that gallery.

On Friday night/Saturday morning there was a Dance Marathon. Various frats and sororites competed in various events from 8pm Friday night until 8am Saturday morning, raising money for Riley Children's Hospital. I covered the event from midnight until 4am and it was a good time. I have 10 photos that I have edited. Here is that gallery.

I took Ball State women's basketball photos today and it was senior night and I have photos that I need to go through. Those will be added tomorrow or Monday.

This Is Weird

Even though it's not a photo, I am still posting this. You need headphones to have the full effect. It's really neat.

3D Sound Experience Use headphones, This freaked me out!

2 New Galleries

I have two galleries from this week so far. One is from Jerry Greenfield, co-founder of Ben & Jerry's ice cream. He came to Ball State to speak about business and entrepreneurship. The other gallery is from the Ball State womens basketball against Central Michigan on February 21. I will be going to Muncie Central and do photos with strobes there and also to the Ball State mens basketball game so I will have galleries of them as well.

UPDATE- 4:30 PM FEB. 15

At last, I have dug my car out of the snow. Not too bad compared to a lot of people. Like I said previously, a simple removing of the snow behind it, kick it in reverse, and I am out. The car is happily rested in another spot, more dug out. Classes resumed today, which went well. Campus is better than what I thought it would have been. One more day until another two day break! =)

UPDATE: 4 PM FEB. 14

So people are trying to dig their cars out of the mounds of the snow. It looks like a timely process, which is why I will wait. I have two photos of my car. It's not too bad, just a mountain behind it. Once that is gone, a simple reverse should take care of it. Good news is that it started, so that is comforting. I have two images of my car posted.

UPDATE- 9 AM FEB. 14

Classes have been canceled until 5 p.m. which means another day off. It is one that is needed. I couldn't have imagined having only a half day with it being so terrible out there. It's pretty comforting to see my car buried in snow, who knows when I'll get it out and how it will happen. It may take the whole day, or maybe even a week. The snow plows in the complex are not helping as they are just creating a bigger wall behind them. Oh well, it has been an experience. I got an e-mail from the editor in chief (who also personall thanked me for my work) and here's an excerpt from what it said:
"A very special thank you the staff members who spent their entire day (or at least a good chunk of it) nestled away in the newsroom or running with the madness that was (still is) the great outdoors. I'm tremendously proud of every one of you."

Madness is right. Couldn't have said it better.

UPDATE: 12 AM

Ah...home at last...it feels so nice to be back here. It has definitely been an experience I will never (and would like to) forget. I am still wondering why they are planning on having class after noon (as of now, maybe it will get changed). Roads are horrible and even that is an understatement. Only one lane has been plowed on Bethel, which I am sure it's like most streets. It's very tough for two cars going the opposite way to fit on the street, let alone our MITS bus (that also stopped service three hours early today). But anywho, I am speding a day inside, no matter what happens. The only complaint I have about being home now is that the door is whistling as massive amounts of wind (and cold) creep in the apartment. It's almost time to pass out. More to come tomorrow.

My new quote of the day- "I used to like snow, until today happened."

UPDATE: 10 PM

After a long day of photo editing and drying off, things are rather calm down. I will have probably one photo run in the paper as certain heavy criticized photogs have a higher priority. Ah well, it happens. The good news is that classes before noon tomorrow have been canceled as of right now. Maybe the rest will be canceled and that will make the rest of the week as other things have been put of because of today.

Road conditions are a mess, even 4-wheel drive trucks are getting stuck in streets. I have also learned that the entrance to my apartment complex is completely blocked. I should have brought a pillow and slept in the newsroom. Snow emergency has been issued for Delaware County since 7:30 p.m. Horray!

UPDATE: 4 PM-Photo Slideshow

So after an hour and a half of shooting, I have made it back inside, finally thawing out. The winds are easily 40+ MPH with a nice mix of ice pelting your face. I have decided to make a slideshow of the best images I have captured so far. Enjoy.

UPDATE: 1:30 PM

So the wind is still kicking along with the heavy falling of snow. Not many students out on campus, as most of them are smart and staying inside. 2 new images are posted.

1st Post/ Update on Snow- 12:30 PM

So I decided to cover today's blizzard for our newspaper. I come in at 11 and the snow has began to pile on, with swirling winds at 30 MPH. Class has been canceled for the first time ever, which has brought shock throughout campus. I plan on getting more photos soon once the brute of it gets here. For now, I have these images, captured around 11:30 a.m.
